Rabbit Care
Feed: We feed our rabbits Manna Pro Sho and Gro mixed with oats, barley, and our secret conditionning mix. Any brand name of feed is good, except Purina. DO NOT feed a rabbit Purina . Kaytee is also NOT a good brand of feed. Feed a "bland looking" pellet with out seeds, cookies, nuts , fruit, or corn. It should just be composed of pellets .
Hay: We feed our rabbits a "free choice" ration of hay. That means the rabbits eat as much hay as they want. We believe this is VERY important because they do not recieve enough long strand fiber in their pellets. Alfalfa hay is best. Alot of people think it has too much calcium, but it does not matter because they pass all calcium in their diet as waste. Timothy, eespecially Western Timothy, is also a favorite. Any hay is good. Dont feed straw, it is not the same and it often has sharp burrs that cut sensitive lips.
Water: Our rabbits are used to using bowls for water. I don't like bottles because it is very hard to tell if it isn't working or if a rabbit is not drinking water. When you buy a rabbit from us, please give him a bowl, or just monitor their bottle several times a day by pressing on the ball. A rabbit should ALWAYS have water, even at shown and during transport.
Treats: Healthy treat lists can be found online. We feed Cheerios every day.
First day home: WHen you bring a new bunny home, it is important to leave him in the cage and not mess with him for tthe first few days. Give him time to adjust to his environment. Feed him the feed I send you with for the first two days and slowly start mixing my feed with your feed over the next week until it is all your food.
